What I did was dump the Sovtek pre tubes it comes with and changed from 34s to 6l6s. I keep the gain in both gain channels rather low, crank up the master a bit and use the individual channel volumes to control overall volume. That helps to minimize the fizzies at lower volumes. It's not a world beater by any means but it does offer decent tone and quite a bit of versatility at a low price.
