My bad, I love this debate, it's a neverending thrill ride. Most of the people who love the 2203 have never owned and tried to play and maintain one. I will say a modded JCM800 is a great amp for playing live, in large venues, like wimbley, or MSG, or the forum even. But go into a club and try to get a good sound miced up at acceptable volumes, you just can't get a good sound. I struggled with my 2203 for years wanting it to be good. Wanting that cranked tone at my shows. But unfortunatly we couldn't sell out arenas and I haggled with every soundman ever...and in the end, my monsterous JCM800 was at low volume miced and toneless. But thanks to Marshall we have the Vintage Modern, takes care of all the wrongs of the entire JCM lineup.
