So settings are extremely personal to a musician's ear and other peoples settings may not really mean much to you, I've always found this to be the deal with me anyway. I did just purchase and receive a TSL60 though and am very happy with it so far.
Some general things I've found for my sound with this amp are as follows:

1. The volume and power this amp puts out are usable, meaning turning up the channel volumes in conjunction with the master volume is not something to be afraid of doing for fear of destroying your ears - althought this mother can get loud.

2. I've found I get more bite out of the amp by really panning the channel volumes (8.5 for crunch and 10 for lead) and then bringing the master volume up to match my band's level. I have the master set at about 6 right now.

3. I don't play the blues but for metal there is the "shift" selector that really does a good job of scooping out the mids so you may want to engage this and then start EQ'ing your sound. For me I use a fair amount of mids in my sound and didn't do much with the "shift" button.

4. Gain, if metal is your thing you may want to work more with the lead channel and crank the Gain. There is a lot there to work with in my opinion but again don't be afraid to turn the Gain dial up.

5. I haven't used any pedals with the amp yet but there are a ton of pedals that add a nice warm, tight, fat bottom to amps. I have a pedal called the "Screaming Whore" produced by a small manufacturer in Jersey that really packs a punch. A little experimentation with pedals may help bridge the gap for your sound preferences as well. With my last amp I had a great rock tone but couldn't get things to hit hard enough so I added this pedal in my chain and it gave me a real bottom end tight attack that I was missing for some of our heavier material.

Good luck, I have had some early success with the TSL60 and think it is a stellar amp, my style is more of a rock/hard rock sound though with heavy influence from Alice & Chains and Jane's Addiction. I personally feel it is an amp geared more toward rock musicians but I think metal is an achievable sound with the amp none the less.
