FOR SUPER TECH WHIZ's ONLY

Okay, this is a pretty intense question--but here it goes. I have a JCM2000 DSL401 combo amp. It's one from before they re-designed it, so the bridge rectifier actually got so hot it melted the solder. We replaced it with a higher rated bridge to ensure it wouldn't have such a heating issue. But when it got all hooked up again, the clean channel started kicking on the relay switch. We replaced it again with the old bridge, but the relay switch is still kicking in, and we don't know why. What is the relay switch protecting from in the circuit? Does anyone have any idea at all???
