Depending on your approach to guitar play, you might want to think twice about trying to replicate someone else's sound. But, if you just want to have fun, then do like steelhorse suggested: look up what equipment the artist used, and if you can, what he used on that song. If it's the studio version's sound you're looking for, then getting that sound will be that much harder than getting a live sound.
